WELCOME BACK

It has to be said....Welcome back Adele- An excellent performance at the Grammy's last night, as well as gorgeous style! Although I wasn't able to watch the Grammy's, I woke up very early this morning to catch up on all of the top performances I  missed. Amazing! xoxo

A GIRL CAN DREAM

As I'm thumbing through my favourite magazine "The Clifton" this morning, I see a few beautiful design spaces for my future; one being this Calacatta Viola Honed Marble Vesta Bath tub. Knowing nothing of marble, cost or bathroom design, I Googled it, foolishly thinking it was attainable one day. This is what I found online- my dreams are dashed. I, along with half of England's population, will never own this Calacatta Viola Honed Marble Vesta Bath (said like Baaath).- made in Turkey (of course)

A girl can dream.

CATH KIDSTON LOOT

I enrolled to take a sewing class at the Folk House this fall. My teacher Karen suggested last week that I pop into Cath Kidston to get some ideas.

After dropping in and speaking to one of Cath's helpful staff at the Park Street location, I now have some great projects lined up for my 12 weeks class.

I bought a few fun things for my starter kit...

WIMBLEDON WEAR

Summer Thistle Strappy Playsuit
I bought this super cute French Connection jumpsuit today. I was thinking it would be cute with a little coat and heels to wear to Wimbledon this Thursday, if it's sunny. My adventure buddy L and I are heading off to London this week to check out the tennis and celebrate Canada Day at Trafalgar Square. We are volunteering with the hockey tournament in the morning, hitting up the Maple Leaf pub in the afternoon and grooving to Blue Rodeo that evening.

The summer sale is on and there are some great finds out there. Steve had to drag me away from Cabot Circus kicking and screaming.*wink* I love that the UK doesn't wait for summer to end before having the big sales.

GOING THE EXTRA DISTANCE

I'm going to try out a new Aveda Salon today and shy away from my usual Redken salon in the village. I've been sucked in by their clever advertising with the tease of a hand, arm and neck massage. This salon offers going the extra distance including touching up makeup. I'm cheating on my lovely stylist with good faith in advertising and   promises of extra attention.

My visit thoughts: I believe going the distance has become robotic. It certainly wasn't the relaxed spa environment that I was expecting after reading the article in Clifton Life. The stylist are knowledgeable and friendly but I already had that in my last salon. My expectation management was too high.  I'm not a critic just a girl trying to find a salon where the service matches the price tag. I'll be heading back to my Redken safety net in 6-7 weeks time. Hopefully, my stylist will forgive me for my philandering ways. ;)

ADELE - GLAMOUR

I dragged my friend Eva around Clifton today, in search of the July issue of Glamour featuring Adele, no luck.

If I was a subscriber I would have had it yesterday. *sigh* with a little *hint, hint*

Hopefully tomorrow I will have two fresh copies in my hand, yes I said two! One for my lovely guest blogger L who has been laid up for a week with strep. Feel better L, Adelle will soon be in your mailbox. xo

KATE'S SHOES

People are dying to know about Kate's shoes. The Dutchess of Cambridge is wearing a pair called the Greta Wedge in this picture. You can find them at LK Bennett this summer; word has it they will be renamed "Kate." If you are desperate to have them let's hope the reports are right. Click here to watch out for them. If it's her wedding shoes you are interested in they were hand made by team McQueen you can find a similar pair here.

ANTIQUE SHOPPING

Yesterday I nosed around in a Bedminster antique shop while Steve took his bike in for a tune up. I found a few sewing tables that I'm interested in and we are going back today to have a closer look.

I was so impressed by  Les Puces while in Paris. I have flea market on the brain and I'm going to have some fun hunting for Bristol treasures.

Have a great weekend!

THE PERFECT FIT

I went into my husbands office today and found the new BRAVISSIMO catalogue that I got in the mail this week sitting on his desk. I  didn't waste anytime in check marking the top 5 I fancy. I hope that is why the catalogue was on his desk. ;) With Valentines Day coming up and Steve now knowing, what a holiday hunny I am. We will both be thinking of extra little ways to make our first Valentines as a married couple a special one. *hint* *hint* ha,ha,ha... I first discovered Bravissimo on a trip to Glasgow in 2009... I had a well needed wake up call on my bra size. I will never buy a bra that doesn't fit right again! Although shocked at my "real" size I was very pleased with the time they spent on me, the end result and most importantly the cost. One of the bras I picked out was not in the store and they offered to order it and send it right to my address. I am now, a very loyal Bravissimo customer and often share this great find with my friends. Lucky for Steve we don't have one in Bristol!

OLD FAITHFUL

My computer has finally kicked the bucket. I've been through a lot with my Dell 1501 Inspiron since winning it in a work draw. I have dropped it many times,  left it out on the deck once and it actually crackled when I turned it on! It's lost keys & has some great bumper stickers on it. I am so impressed with my Dell that today when it was time to get a new one I wanted the exact same computer. The only difference, I greedily added color for an extra 20 pounds. I bought a nice sleeve for it with a bartered discount.  I'm excited to get it all set up tonight and Steve will be happy to get his computer back. xoxo

I LOVE LINENS

There is nothing more delightful to me then getting new duvet covers & bed sheets. Jumping into anything over 200 thread count is lush. Maybe Santa will bring me some new linen for Christmas? xoxo

SHOWROOMS

Do you ever just walk into a room and you know you want everything in it? That is the way I feel about most  showrooms. Yes, I buy bits and bobs, but I never get the entire showroom. I have never lived in a city that has an Ikea and now that I do, I could spend hours wandering around dreaming of  buying an entire showroom.
Just trying to live the dream. ;) For now it's all about travel or that is what Steve keeps reminding me of as he leads me out of the store. xoxo

LEARN TO SEW

All the amazing things I've come across has awakened an old interest of sewing again, and by again I mean I took sewing in high school. I made a hilarious pair of dungarees out of flowered table cloth material. Anyone remember what their first sewing project was? I will be taking Learn To Sew in January at "cafe college"  around the corner. Let's see if I can remember how to thread a sewing machine and and figure out the bobbin? I'm excited! xo

100 POUNDS OF GLITTER

That is how much was used on the catwalk of the Victoria Secret 2010 show in NYC. I watched it yesterday. I want tickets next year!!! Surely Steve wouldn't mind checking it out?! I'm not asking for the 2 million dollar fantasy bra worn by Andriana Lima in the show just 2011 show tickets please.

It takes 17 makeup artist, 19 hairdressers, 90 tubes of lip gloss, 30 bottles of skin lotion, 40 cans of hairspray, 50 stylist, 68 hair extensions, and 40 total hours of work by the styling team. Meanwhile, the girls wear 6" heels, and 5 foot wings that weight 20 pounds.

NEW DRESS A DAY

365 Days. 365 New Outfits. 365 Dollars. I found out about the amazingly gifted and talented fashionista, Marisa Lynch through E news and goggled her. Check her out here Marisa Lynch if you enjoy fashion, sewing & thrifting.

Marisa makes me want to run out and take a sewing class. Inspired to blog her talent by the movie Julie & Julia she's now has an amazing following and surely has inspired others to find their inner seamstress. Clifton has some amazing thrift shops and I've had, many great thrift day finds, since moving here. Time to catch up on Marisa's blog!

PASHLEY PRINCESS

I explained to Steve tonight again about my dream of owning this Pashley Princess Classic. No, I won't be able to ride it in Bristol (too many hills) & it would most likely sit in the office but once in a while we could go on romantic picnics and this would be the perfect bike for that. We went to Mud Docks bike shop and spoke to the manager about this beautiful bike retailing at £595.00 The manager agreed with me when I mentioned it was the "mini cooper" of the bike world. I think this bike may be worth walking up the hills of Bristol... ;) I really want my Canadian Girl in Europe moment and this bike just may do it. Steve's answer to this: do you think we may be able to rent it? Hmmmm....The quintessential English town and country bicycle!
