I'M BACK!!!!

What an amazing road-trip vacation in Italy we had- I can't wait to share some of my favourite details about the trip. We pretty much did the amazing race around Tuscany and a little beyond. We brought back something very special, which I will be posting pictures of in the next few days. As usual, today is about getting the suitcases unpacked and the house back in order... I have a crazy few weeks ahead of me and then I'm off to Halifax & Toronto, Canada for a quick visit, so I'll try to find time to get it all in.  xoxo

2012 HUNTER WELLIES

I picked up the September issue of Elle yesterday and spotted this wonderful ad.. LLG is one of the new models for the 2012 Hunter campaign. Not only does she look fabulous in wellies, She is gorgeous, has great style and is a fellow bloggess. I found this out after doing a bit of Google research about the campaign. I quickly added LLG to my favorites and look forward to reading more of her blog.

PONTE VECCHIO

Ponte Vecchio is a medieval bridge built over the Arno river. In fact, it is more than a bridge: a street, a market and a landmark of Florence. Ponte Vecchio was created in 1345 by Taddeo Gaddi. To finance construction of the bridge, part of the bridge were rented to merchants.

I heard you can find some great jewellery here!

SUMMER PROJECT

ANNA CHRISTIE

Jude Law plays an Irish sailor who falls for a former prostitute (Anna Christie) in the new version of Eugene O’Neill’s Pulitzer Prize winning 1920’s play.

-Jude Law discovers humour, tenderness and sudden moments of intense physical and emotional violence in the role of the Irish stoker..

Fantastic reviews...I would love to see Jude on stage! Anna Christie will run at the Donmar Theatre until the 8th of October.

THE CINQUE TERRE

http://www.destination360.com/europe/italy/cinque-terre
The Cinque Terre is a rugged mountainous region located on the coast of Italy. The area consists of five villages that lie on the western coast of northern Italy. From north to south, the villages that make up the Cinque Terre region are Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola, and Riomaggiore. The villages are each about two miles apart from one another, with the entire area spanning approximately eight miles. The villages contain a variety of small cafes and restaurants, bed and breakfasts, and hiking trails.

One of the most popular things to do in the Cinque Terre is hiking. A network of trails connects the five villages. One of the most frequently traveled paths is the Via dell"Amore, or Lover"s Pathway. The hiking trail runs between the southernmost neighboring villages of Manarola and Riomaggiore. To access the path, take a Cinque Terre train to either village and ask one of the locals where the entrance to the trail is located.

I HEART TRAVEL

ON THE LIST

Saturnia, Tuscany
At the small rocky village of Saturnia, close to the hill town of Pitigliano, you can wallow for free in the sulphurous spring water that gushes out of the ground at 37C and tumbles down a series of waterfalls. You can usually find a quiet rock pool and watch the Italians having fun. Go at dawn to have the place to yourself.

I've been researching all the things I want to do while in Italy this summer. So I'll be sharing some over the next few days with you. How amazing does this look?! I know I'll be there for dawn!

COOKING CLASS

The boys took a cooking class at Bordeaux Quay this morning. They made flat bread, fish stew with couscous and Eton Mess for dessert. I can't wait for them to show me their talents in the kitchen tonight!

UNDER THE TUSCAN SUN

Under the Tuscan Sun: At Home in Italy (1996) is the captivating story of an English professor and poet from San Francisco whose love of travel and new places leads her and her companion to buy a house in Tuscany, a house in much need of renovation. As we experience the frustrations of the remodelling project, we also delight in the descriptions of the land, the food, the culture, and the history of the people they meet - Frances Mayers

We leave for Italy in two weeks time!

AHOY MATEY!

We had a brilliant night out with Long John and the rest of the  Treasure Island cast last night at Bristol's Old Vic open air theater.

C loved it, just as I thought he might. I purchased the tickets for a steal at £7 pounds, we were side stage and that was fine for us.
A great play with plenty of pirate jargon!

Davy Jones' Locker: The bottom of o the sea, where the souls of dead men lie.

Fiddlers Green: The private heaven where pirates be goin' when they die.

Landlubber: Land-lover, someone not used to life on board a ship.

Me hearty: A friend or shipmate.

Scurvy Dog: A fine insult.

Scallyway: A bad person or scoundrel.

Thar: The opposite of "here"

Yo-ho-ho: Pirate laughter!
