Every family has a story that it tells itself, that it passes on to the children and grandchildren. The story grows over the years, mutates, some  parts are sharpened, others dropped and there is often debate about what really happened. But even with these different sides of the same story, there is still agreement that this is the family story and in the absence of other narratives, it becomes the flagpole that the family hangs its identity from.

KEEP CALM

It's amazing what you can get done when your son wakes you up at 4am. Steve and I ended up booking our summer travel. EasyJet sent me their summer sale schedule and we ended up booking our flights to Scotland and Portugal!

The end of our UK journey is near & this is exactly how I want us to handle things in the coming months. Breathe....

JUST CHILLIN

CONVERTIBLE CRIB

Hello! It's crazy times in the Gillespie house these days.
I don't have a lot of time to blog as you might have noticed.

Today we've been listening to baby Einstein and looking at bedroom sets for little Euan. Daddy Walker has asked me to look for one that we like and he'll have it sent to our new home; what a lovely gift- Thank you Dad!

One thing I love about the new sets is that they convert. They grow from baby crib to teenage bed- this is fantastic!

I love this giraffe room for a little boy. Euan giggles at all the animal sounds we make for him. I'm pretty sure he will love animals and adventure just as I do.

Happy Summer! xoxo

FATHER'S DAY

-Any Man Can Be A Father But It Takes A Very Special Person To Be A Dad.

What an amazing day it turned out to be after such a yucky weekend....

Connor served us breakfast in bed, the boys had a game of footy in the park and then we walked down to the harbour front and had Sunday lunch at the Cottage Inn, Baltic Wharf. We cheated and took the ferry across but then walked off our lunch by taking the long way back.

Happy Father's Day!!! xoxo

INDULGENT LINKS

I went shopping with my sister-in-law today. First stop, Links of London, who happened to be having a massive sale. After spending an hour oohing and aahing over the charms, I took home these ones... I'm so excited to add them to my bracelet, probably being the last I'll add while in England. Both of our bracelets are getting pretty full.

Thanks Links for having such a great sale!

JO's

It was a jet lag day, so little was done except for a few loads of laundry. I must suffer more than most people from jet lag, at least more than my husband who seems to bounce back fabulously every time.

Candace kept herself busy this morning whilst I napped with Euan. I made up for it this afternoon when I suggested going to JO's for lunch, as always the food and wine was amazing... Great company too!

BRISTOL

Wow- That was a whirlwind trip, although two weeks long it felt like it went really fast. We have just arrived home this afternoon and already have our first visitor of the week, welcome Candace!

Time to unpack and get the family back on schedule. I'll save that for tomorrow though, tonight we will have a few glasses of bubbly and toast great things to come.

I hope everyone had a good weekend! xoxo

HOME SWEET HOME

Our HHT (house hunting trip) is coming to a close. It has mostly been successful and positive with only a few hiccups throughout the two weeks. Steve and I have once again accomplished something amazing together, we talked about what we wanted before we left England and came together this week to purchase the perfect house for our family. All of these big life events make me appreciate my husband more and more; together we are solid and it's one of the best feelings in the world. Now that I have got the sentiment out of the way.....

WHOO HOO we are land owners! Our home has a lot of great space and I can see us there for a long time if life/work permits it. It will be my first time living in Ontario and if you are going to move from England to Canada and leave the beautiful architecture and cobble stone streets full of history, I think Ottawa is the place to move- the skyline is breathtaking.  Come August we start a new adventure. Euan will be getting his Canadian passport and will officially be a dual citizen. I am looking forward to this next chapter!

THANK YOU L!

HOUSE HUNTING

We are taking the morning off from house hunting while we wait for an offer to go through on a house we like in Ottawa.

On our walk about this morning we ran into one of Steve's friend who let us know that they are having the Mosaika Sound and Light Show on Parliament Hill this week. So if we can brave a late night tonight, having had some pretty brutal jet lag the past few days, we'll go. I was pretty nervous about moving to a new city in August, but after spending a few days here and getting to know the neighborhoods, I really think we are going to enjoy living in our Nation's Capital over the next few years.
