A Good Luck Token For The Bride

Something old, something new  Something borrowed, something blue  And a silver sixpence in her shoe.

Although the author of this poem is not known, a lot of people have researched the significance of this to a wedding. Here are some of the reasons I've found.

Something Old is symbolic of continuity. This is usually given by the family.

Something New represents good luck and success and the brides hopes for a bright future in her new married life.

Something Borrowed is to represent to the bride that friends and family will be there for her on the special day and in the future when help is needed. usually given by a friend who has had a happy marriage.

Something Blue is the symbol of faithfulness, purity and loyalty

Silver Sixpence in the bride's shoes represents wealth and financial security

Although wearing these items is supposed to symbolize good luck for the bride, they are also a fun tradition and an opportunity to include some of the special people in her life on this day.

The Element Of Freedom

I went to visit my fiancé in Plymouth yesterday and popped in Alicia Keys new sound track The Element Of Freedom. Her soulful melodies made the two hour drive down a pleasant one. I turned the music up loud enough to drown out my tone def. voice and sang my heart out.

LIGHT UP YOUR SPECIAL DAY

Fireworks, Lanterns, Sparklers... how romantic! http://www.galaxy-fireworks.co.uk/

A Petitpas Weekend

We are leaving today to go down to Portsmouth and spend the weekend with the Petitpas's. The weather is meant to be great.
I can't wait to walk, jog, play along the promenade. There are always lots of water sports going on in the Solent. Connor is going to bring his suit and board so I'm sure I'll have some pictures to post of that when I get back. I hope everyone has a brilliant spring weekend! It's starting to feel like summer, even in England! (cheeky) I love it. xoxo

A VERY BUSY BRIDE TO BE

Steve & I made a long weekend for ourselves and drove down to London for the night to attend his sisters birthday. I had an awesome day I went for a facial & then hit Soho for some shopping. Checked into our hotel and then headed to the JetLag Bar for festivities.

The next day we drove up to Plymouth and spent the night there. We took in a play at the Royal Theater, a perfect night out, also great seats that were not to dear.
We took the ferry to Looe & Dartmouth for the rest of the weekend. The weather was a beautiful 18 degrees and the sail boats were taking advantage, and in full view as we drove along the Devon Coastal towns.  A fishing village and home of the Royal Navy College Dartmouth is a great find. We strolled along the promenade and watched kids catch wee crabs, walked thru the park gardens before taking a squat with our fish & chips & mushy peas to enjoy the view.  Another great weekend enjoying the delights of England!

Back to reality.... Not working doesn't seem to give me anymore time than I had before. With volunteer work and travel I still find myself getting behind in the wedding plans. I need to find a good dance teacher because I have the worst rhythm and being that I'm not from Bristol I'm having a hard time with this.

Flowers: I want Anemone's for my flowers and was just told by the florist that I can't get them in August. Was I wrong to think that a bride could have any flowers she wanted, that they would just import them if you paid enough? I was sadly mistaken. If anyone knows how to make my dream flower happen please let me know.
On a good note..Invites are done and will heading to the press tomorrow so we should be sending them out by next week. YAY!

I've updated the wedding site today. http://www.weddingwire.com/wedding/UserViewWebsite?wid=9a3f607a8c360437 password is bliss. So many things to do and only 122 days to go.

Munich, Innsbruck, Salzburg, Fusen

We just had the best spring break skiing and soaking up the sun. Magnificent views, friendly people and lots to do to keep of busy for a week. We spent 3 days skiing at the slick ski resort Kirchberg," Kirch" meaning church in German, one of the first things you will see when approaching the town of Kirchberg.  While heading down run 36 I found another small church right in the middle of the run. I love how they set up these sun chairs for some Apres Ski!
We stayed in a small town called Hopfgarten about 15 minutes from the Kirchberg. The condo had a full kitchen, two bathrooms and enough room to sleep six. The view out the back was superb. The owner's told us during one of our many Apres Ski's at the house pub that they were married at the church in the back.
While in Austria, going to the Swarovski Crystal World in Innsbruck is a must. One of the highlights of the trip for me. Check out the picture of the swarovski crystal bra I took.  We then headed for Innsbruck's old town for lunch and a stroll and a near by park to have a man size game of chess.
We spent the day in Salzburg and of course did The Sound Of Music tour & caught the sunset going down at the Hotel Stein. Make sure you go to the rooftop patio for a glass of fizzy after a long day, the view is breathtaking. We spent our last day at the Neuschwanstein fairytale castel. Make sure to get there early and see all of it.  I took over 400 pictures and I wish I could share more with you. Back to wedding planning!
