Winter Solstice 2009

After an amazing weekend &Anniversary celebrated by our first Martini & Mistletoe party we jumped right into Day 22 of December-

Connor woke up this morning and came up stairs with Day 22 of Advent. Cluedo which is Clue but a UK card game version of it. I always loved the game Clue when I was growing up and was happy to pass on this game to him. We'll have plenty of fun over the Christmas holidays while he's with us, playing Cluedo!

After breakfast we headed off to the Zoo to feed Santa's Reindeer.

The Bristol Zoo Gardens has got into the festive spirit. You can visit Santa's sensory trail, Santa's Reindeer & Santa's Groto. You can take a tour on the Christmas Train Charlie Choo Choo for a magical journey around the Zoo. They've even put together an adopt an animal program that comes with a small stuffed toy of the animal your adopting for Christmas, a great idea! http://www.bristolzoo.org.uk/ You may be wondering why we spend so much time at the Zoo we purchased membership's in the summer when we first moved to Bristol and have been multiple times.  It's a great location and they always have new and exciting things going on. I've taken some pictures.

Happy Holidays,

Loving Life Being Christy!

Day 16 of Advent

Day 16 of Advent took us to Wittering to see Connor's Christmas concert. On the way to London's Ruislip we encountered snow for the first time this year, it was lovely. We dropped presents off to be mailed and found out there were even some there to be picked up. It was a 4 hour journey each way but well worth the trip to watch Connor sing his little Christmas heart out.

Steve and I stopped in a very pretty place near Peterborough called Stamford it's a pleasing little town on the river full of little shops and lots of history. The Crown Hotel is gorgeous and serves food all day long starting at 14 pounds for main courses. I've found a website on one of the boroughs of Danelaw, Stamford- http://www.stamford.co.uk/index.shtml
If you ever get a chance this is a beautiful spot to stop.

Sultan Ball 2009

Wow, wow, wow.. I was going to say only in England, but if Canada has ball's like this, I've not been invited. ;)

The Sultan Christmas Ball theme was Heaven & Hell The decorations were amazing and the itinerary included two bands, a casino, chocolate fountain, skiing & snowboarding virtual room, giant mechanical spider, vodka luge & open bar.

The dress was very lavish & inspiring. I saw a pair of red shoes with diamond encrusted heels and dresses that were heavier than their owner's. The hair and accessories were also dazzling, my own friend looked like she had been styled by "Gossip Girl" or "The Material Girl".
Cara's neck had pearls, diamonds and bows, bows!!! Even the men who were mostly in uniform looking very dashing stood out in there own personal way, some wearing kilt's, and no I didn't turn them up! The loo's had safety pins, hair spray, bobby pins, all the right things to fix any disaster that might occur on our big night out.

I ended the night keeping a promise to Connor ...Green Day at the ball. I went up and requested a Green Day song. Owning the dance floor kicked off my heels and danced up a storm with my gorgeous date to Green Day's Basket Case. Ha!

Thank you England for an awesome night out.

Very First Blog

This is my first time blogging I thought it would be a great way to track my adventure while living in England and share my experiences, especially when I travel and find a great hotel, restaurant or attraction.

We are heading to Lee-on-the-Solent this afternoon to spend the weekend with Rob & Cara and attend the formal Winter Sultan Ball in Portsmouth. I've been looking forward to this for months and now it's finally here. I hope it's everything I've anticipated. It should be since I have a great date. I'll post pictures on our return.

Time to open the advent day 4!

Happy Holidays!
