HOUSE HUNTING

I've been gone for a while.. Internet issue's have now been fixed but my life has become very, very busy.  I'm in the middle of a visit with my Mom and online house hunting whenever I get a free second. We are moving back to Canada this summer. In a few weeks we will be off to find our new home in Ottawa, Ontario- everything is moving so fast, Euan is 3 months old now and has such a big personality and is talking non stop- just like his Mom! Thanks L for taking such good care of my blog I know we are all loving your weekly post. xoxo

EUAN'S CHRISTENING

Me and my little love bug at Orchardleigh, where we were married.

On May 13, 2012 we had our Euan christened at St.Mary's wearing my christening gown. I'll have to scan a pic of me wearing it 30 something years ago!

My Mom flew in Sunday morning and made it to the church in time to meet her grandson for the very first time and see him christened.

It was such a special day, one that went too fast. Euan was such a good boy through the entire service. I was a very proud Mum! xoxo

Guest Blogger: Living MY Moksha: Week 3: Live Green

The Week 3 Living Your Moksha challenge is LIVE GREEN! This is an especially close to home week for Moksha studios as they emphasize the importance of living green in our practice, in our personal lives and in our businesses. And, certainly this is something you are aware of in a Moksha studio... which I think really adds to the peaceful experience of yoga.

Week 3 Challenge: This week Living Your Moksha challenges us to green our plates, with seven days of vegetarian/vegan delicious eating! I’ve implemented a slightly modified challenged based on my experience with Week 1’s no processes foods. This week I am challenging myself to eat fish at least twice. Fish is something that has been missing from my diet for too long, and I am excited at the challenge of integrating it in this week!

Week 3 Supersize: My supersize challenge this week is daily yoga practice. I am preparing to travel for work next week so I want to get in as much of my routine yoga as possible before my routine gets turned upside-down!

Here we go… Living Green!

Guest Blogger: Living MY Moksha: Progress

I’m a newbie in the blogging world, but I’ve come to realize that if I state that I’m undertaking a challenge it is proper practice to update on my successes and failures of the challenge. So here is an update on my Week 1: Be Healthy and Week 2: Be Accessible progress.

Week 1: Be Healthy

Well, let me just say that eating no processed foods is difficult, or at least it was for me. I think it would be possible with well thought out planning, but when you start to look at how much food we (I) consume that is processes…Wow. My first three days were excellent – I was eating a lot of fruit and veggies in their natural form. However, mid-week it wasn’t enough so I did “cheat” with some of my regulars, like cereal (yummm). Overall, I’m totally satisfied with my efforts and new knowledge of processed foods. I find now I am consistently making an effort to eat less processed foods.

My supersize challenge this week was to practice yoga every day – well I practiced 4/7 days. Okay, so not perfect, however when I looked back on my practice schedule I did practice April 28, 29, 30 and May 1, 2, 3, and 5. So that is close to 7 days in a row :)

Week 2: Be Accessible

Bye, bye facebook. I have SO enjoyed the reprieve from my social network. I did connect via Skype and e-mail with friends at a distance, and certainly spent time with my friends in person. In fact, I’m wondering as this week’s challenge comes to an end if I even want to reactivate. I think for me this week has helped break the habit of facebook, and in the future, upon my reactivation, I will limit my usage.

The supersize challenge this week was to introduce a friend to yoga. My friend Lynnette came to a Friday night Moksha class with me and she did SO good! In fact, we spoke the next day and she is considering trying the intro month this summer! I’d say this is a success!

Okay, so tomorrow will bring Week 3: Live Green – watch for the blog update!

Guest Blogger: Living MY Moksha: Week 2: Be Accessible

The challenge for Week 2 of the Living Your Moksha Challenge is BE ACCESSIBLE. The idea is that Moksha yoga is accessible to everyone, and based on my experience it is. There are modifications to every pose to increase the challenge or make it more accessible for you. I really appreciate this accessibility.

Week 2 Challenge: Living Your Moksha has suggested the challenge be practicing active listening, in an effort to be more accessible to friends and family. I've modified this challenge slightly by deactivating facebook in an effort to be more accessible in person to friends and family. For my international friends, with whom I'm use facebook at our main point of communication I will make an effort to e-mail or skype, arguably more personal forms of communication.

Week 2 Supersize: Bring a friend to yoga. This Friday I will be introducing my friend Lynnette to Moksha Yoga for the first time, and I'm really excited!

Again, this week I've committed to the Challenge and Supersize Challenge for the week. Has anyone else created their own challenges? If so, be sure to share!

DONATE YOUR PENNIES

What a brilliant way to spend our last pennies!!

Show Your Roll is an effort by @CDN_Penny ("The Official Twitter of the Canadian Penny") to motivate Canadians to collect up their soon-to-be obsolete pennies, roll them into bank-acceptable 50¢ wraps, and donate the result to their favourite charity. @CDN_Penny then suggests donors Tweet their good deed using the hashtag #showyourroll for public acknowledgement.

HOMAGE TO THE PENNY

http://osocio.org/message/the_last_dying_wish_of_the_canadian_penny_showyourroll/The striking of the final one-cent coin took place today, the last maple leaf is pressed into copper plating at the Royal Canadian Mint in Winnipeg. I'm feeling a bit sad that I may miss spending my final pennies hiding about in storage!

Guest Blogger: Living MY Moksha: Week 1: Be Healthy

The challenge for Week 1 of Living Your Moksha is BE HEALTHY! The idea is to bring a healthy awareness to what we eat, and commit to making small, yet significant, changes to our diet.

Week 1 Challenge: No processed foods/toxins in the home.
Week 1 Supersize: 1-week daily practice.

This week I’ve committed to both the Challenge and the Challenge Supersized! Wish me luck! And maybe you’d like to participate with me, or make your own challenges up for this week with the first pillar – Be Healthy!
